Croissant Bread Pudding with Chocolate
This is my friend Margo's famous dessert that makes an appearance at nearly every dinner party she throws because we would all be sorely dissappointed if it weren't there! (Banish from your thoughts the typical heavy and gelatinous bread pudding grandma used to make with scraps.) This luscious concoction combines homemade croissants with a rich vanilla custard and chocolate. The resulting contrast of textures and flavors is delightful--crispy croissant croutons on top, soft and smooth custard-soaked croissants in the middle, and a thin layer of semi-sweet chocolate at the bottom. Serve it warm, scooped into elegant dessert cups or wide wine glasses for a pretty presentation. A scoop of vanilla ice cream on top is the perfect touch for this celebration-worthy dessert.
